Michael Mulcahy Obituary

Michael V. Mulcahy, 57, of Ligonier, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born Oct. 25, 1949, in Greensburg, a son of Frances Bell Mulcahy, of Greensburg, and the late Patrick Mulcahy. Michael was employed as a psychiatric social worker for Excela Health. He earned his B.A. in sociology from St. Vincent College and his MSW from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ligonier. In his spare time, he loved to do woodworking, salt water fishing, and gardening. In addition to his mother, he is also survived by his wife of 35 years, Margaret "Peg" Grieder Mulcahy; a daughter, Monica Rebar (and her husband, Wayne), of Greensburg; two sons, Ned M. Mulcahy, of Pittsburgh, and Kevin V. (and his wife, Patricia) Mulcahy, of Pittsburgh; and two brothers, George "Josh" Mulcahy, of Pittsburgh, and Dr. Richard P. Mulcahy, of Titusville. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL CHAPEL INC., 144 E. Main St., Ligonier. A blessing service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral chapel, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. John Mulcahy, nephew of the deceased will be the principle celebrant and Monsignor William G. Charnoki, P.A., will be concelebrant. A parish wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral chapel. Interment will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery, Latrobe. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in his memory to Catholic Social Services, c/o Catholic Charities, 711 E.
