Pete B. Bellono Obituary
Pete B. Bellono, 93, of Jeannette, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at Weatherwood Manor Assisted Living, Greensburg. He was born March 1, 1925, in Jeannette, the son of the late Dominick and Teresa Riccardino Bellono. Pete retired from the Elliott Co. in Jeannette after 44 years, many as a product expediter. He was a union official for the Elliott Co. Office Union 2380. He was a lifelong member of Ascension Church, in Jeannette, and the church's Holy Name Society. He was a 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 1222, of Jeannette, a member of the Young at Heart of Penn Township, and a volunteer for the American Red Cross and the Palace Theatre in Greensburg. Early in life, he enjoyed his work as a weekend radio announcer for local stations, including Latrobe station WTRA. We'll remember his love for the polka, dancing and listening. The image of Pete and wife Rose spinning endlessly to a polka is clearly remembered. He enjoyed cars and driving and was quick to offer his services as taxi driver to those needing a ride. He maintained his driver's license until his 92nd birthday. In addition to his parents, Pete was predeceased by his sister, Rose Barney Reilly. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Rosie B. Busin Bellono; sons, John A. Bellono and wife, Patricia, of Huntsville, Ala., and Peter B. and Caroline Bellono, of Jeannette; and three grandchildren, Teresa, Christine and Justin Bellono. Pete's family wishes to express their gratitude to the staffs of Weatherwood Manor and Family Hospice for their dedicated care during the most difficult times.
Friends will be received 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette. The Holy Name Society will hold services at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, followed at 5:45 p.m. with services by K of C Council No. 1222. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Ascension Church with Father Paul A. Lisik as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
