Robert C. Clark Obituary
Robert Campbell "Chalky" Clark, 94, of Scottdale, passed away at 6:35 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, surrounded by his loving family. Chalky was born July 30, 1924, in East Huntingdon Township, a son of the late John Lloyd and Mary (Campbell) Clark. He married Gwendolyn "Gwen" (Ruth) Clark, Feb. 18, 1956, and she passed away Aug. 10, 1980. Chalky was a devoted father and grandfather. He worked for 40 years in the Carpenter's Union, retiring from the former Ross and Kennedy Corporation, Pittsburgh, in 1986. Chalky was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church in Scottdale and a graduate of Scottdale High School, Class of 1942. He proudly served as a carpenter's mate second class in the Navy during World War II on the USS Monterey aircraft carrier with the late President Gerald Ford throughout the Pacific campaign. He was a member of the Brookman-Hernley VFW Post 7781 and the Thomas A. Lewellyn American Legion Post 240, both in Scottdale, and was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman, who enjoyed fishing at his favorite place, Deep Creek Lake, with family and friends including the late Leo and Pearle Firestone. If you were up early enough, you could spot him and Leo casting their fishing lines! Chalky will be sadly missed by his loving family; a loving dad to his three children, Cindy Clark King and her husband, Michael, of McKees Rocks, Dr. Robert "Bob" Clark and his wife, Donata, of Rostraver Township, and Richard "Rick" Clark and his wife, Vicki, of Mt. Pleasant; a proud pappy to his grandchildren, "Princesses" Peyton and Ashton Clark (XOXO) and Daniel and Ava O'Brien; his two sisters, Maryann George, of 29 Palms, Calif., and Patricia Harris, of Belle Vernon; his brother, Dean Clark and his wife, Judy, of New Stanton; his sister-in-law, Mabel Clark; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Wilda Oswald and Nancy Shupe; his two brothers, John L. Clark Jr. and Jay Clark; his brothers-in-law, Gene Oswald, Herman Shupe, Jim Harris and JC George; and his sister-in-law, Nancy Clark.
