Robert J. "Pee Wee" Burkholder, 76, of Champion, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at his home. He was born May 1, 1944, in Connellsville, a son of the late Wilmer and Mabel Wolf Burkholder. Bob was a graduate of Connellsville High School with the class of 1962. He retired in 1999 from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, where he worked as a construction inspector for 32 years. Bob loved watching sports, especially the local high school sports teams. He was also very interested in the Pittsburgh sports teams, including the Pitt Panthers. Bob had formerly attended Mill Run United Methodist Church. Bob is survived by his son, Jason Burkholder (Kisa), of Derry; his grandchildren, Kylie Kern (Nicole), and Dylan and Dakota Burkholder; and his brother, Dale Burkholder and wife, Jean, of Connellsville. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his wife, Maxine Burkholder, on May 7, 2008; his son, Robert Scott Burkholder, who passed away the same day as his father, Jan. 11, 2021; and his brother, Richard Burkholder. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the MARK C. BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., at the corner of Route 711 and 146 Municipal Building Road, Melcroft (724-455-2310), where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Dr. Marvin C. Watson officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Champion. A memorial celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Amedisys Hospice, 109 Crosswords Road, Suite 400, Scottdale, PA 15683, in memory of Robert J. Burkholder.
