Theodore M. Novak Sr. Obituary
Theodore M. "Teddy" Novak Sr., 81, of Latrobe, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. Born Nov. 10, 1937, in Latrobe, he was a son of the late Frank Novak and Ann (Helenick) Novak Buchek. Teddy was a member of Holy Family Church, Latrobe. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed at Kennametal, Inc., with more than 30 years of service. A disabled veteran, he served his country in the Air Force. He was a member of the Latrobe Athletic Club's duck pin bowling league. Teddy loved vegetable gardening and enjoyed classic country music. He was also a fan of Boston College football and the Boston Red Sox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Frank Novak; and his stepfather, Walter Buchek. Teddy is survived by two sons, Theodore M. Novak Jr. and his wife, Dina, of Latrobe, and Anthony M. Novak, of Latrobe; one granddaughter, Marissa Novak; one brother, Carl Novak, of Lloydsville; two sisters, Barbara Smith, of Latrobe, and Carol Baum and her husband, James, of Cook Township; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and his canine companion, Gruff.
There will be no public visitations. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at noon Tuesday at Holy Family Church, Latrobe, with the Very Rev. Daniel C. Mahoney, VF as celebrant. Interment will follow at Unity Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe.
