Virginia Lee Sanford Womeldorf, 83, of Vandergrift, passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, at West Haven Manor, in Apollo. She was born Saturday, April 10, 1937, in Madison, the daughter of the late Charles A. and Edna M. Anthony Sanford. Before her retirement, she worked for Dobi Catering and Food Services. She was a graduate of Leechburg High School. She enjoyed ceramics, bingo, playing cards, bus tripS, gardening and sitting on her porch. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Virginia is survived by her children, Janet Womeldorf, of Vandergrift, George Womeldorf and his wife, Janie, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sherri (Jim Pater), of Vandergrift; her grandchildren, Michael Leonard and his wife, Shannon, of Apollo, Sean Leonard, of New Kensington, and Joe Leonard, of Vandergrift; her great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Madison and Dylan; a sister, Shirley "Babe" Minich, of Gilpin Township; and her brother, Charles Sanford, of Kepple Hill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Milton C. Womeldorf, and her sisters, Irene Smith, Betty Borello, Helen Shute, Sara Curcio and Evelyn Hamilton. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2021, in the KELLY L. CORRIDONI FUNERAL HOME LTD., 1916 Moore Ave., North Apollo. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. with Jeannine Sanford, officiating. Private interment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell.
