LaVerne M. Johnston

LaVerne M. Johnston, 93, of Irwin, passed away Saturday April 18, 2021, after a spirited courageous fight with covid-19. LaVerne was the daughter of the late John and Verna Palicka; beloved wife of the late Robert "Lefty" Johnston; loving mother of John (Pam) Johnston, Cathy Eck and Bob Johnston; dear grandmother of Katie (Mike) Nardini, David (Bonnie) Johnston, Kim Eck, Christopher (Ashley) Johnston and Zack (Tori) Johnston; great-grandmother of Luca, Dom and Tessa Nardini; dear and precious sister of Arline (late Ralph) Miller, Marie (late Andy) Hanscak and John (Veronica) Palicka; and proud aunt of many nieces and nephews who thoroughly enjoyed her wit and sense of humor over the years. LaVerne was a retired employee of the Pennsylvania commonwealth with 45 years of service in the department of public welfare as a supervisor and past president of North Versailles Senior Group. In the end, covid-19 might have ravaged her body, but it did not take away her mind, humor, and spirit. Per the family's request, funeral services are private. Arrangements handled by JAMES F.
