Grace Behanna

Grace Adelaide (Witherspoon) Behanna, 93, a lifelong resident of Monongahela, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, in Golden Living Centers of Canonsburg. She was born in Gallatin-Sunnyside (Forward Township) on Sept. 21, 1915, the youngest child of the late Lewis Witherspoon and Margaret (Walters) Witherspoon. In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her brothers, Walter and Norman; and her husband, Paul. She was a graduate of Monongahela High School, class of 1934. She loved the Chicago Cubs, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, her cats, and reading a good mystery. She was a past member of Grace Lutheran Church in Monongahela and the Women's Auxiliary of Fraternal Order of Eagles in Monongahela. She is survived by her only child, Paula Behanna, of Monongahela; and two nieces, Linda Snyder, of Ohio, and Kay Greenlee, of Colorado. There will be no services. Her daughter requests that donations be made in her mother's name to the Monongahela Library or the Washington Area Humane Society.
