Irene Hoosac

Irene (Gregg) Hoosac New Eagle Irene (Gregg) Hoosac, 94, of New Eagle, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, in her home. Born May 9, 1918, in Crookham, she was the daughter of the late Hiram Sr. and Charlotte (Decroix) Gregg. Raised from a child by her grandmother, they lived on Gearing Road in Monongahela. A homemaker, Irene was a member for more than 60 years of the Church of the Nazarene in Monongahela. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, cooking, playing scrabble and listening to music, especially Dean Martin. Surviving are four sons, Peter (Libby) Hossac of New Eagle, John Hoosac of Brownsville, Thomas (Yola) Hoosac of the state of California, and Larry (Nell) Hoosac of Monongahela; three daughters, Anna Manning, Adaline (Rich) Biagini and Charlotte Hoosac of New Eagle; 12 grandchildren, Desiree (Barney) Hoosac, Peter Seth Hoosac, Shannon (Pickle) Sadler, Amanda Uher, Nicole Manning (Frank Gogol) all of New Eagle, Anthony (Samantha) Biagini, Amber (Tony) Martin, Amy (Phil) Arbes, Kimberly (Tom) Mordecki of Monongahela, Matthew Hoosac of Ohio, Aaron (Catherine) Hoosac of the state of California, and Jennifer (Jeremy) Howard of North Carolina; 15 great-grandchildren, Anthony and Alexa Martin, Brittany (Seth) Vlosich, Starsha (Jason) Malek, Cooper Biagini, Noel and Holly Arbes of Monongahela, Julian and Jayden Uher of New Eagle, Deanne (Bill) Trumpie of Greensburg, Nichalaus (Kristen) Anderson of Nevada, Jacob Hoosac of the state of California, Emily, Audrey and Molly Howard of North Carolina, Caleb Vlosich, Alaunna and Bryce Malek of Monongahela and Jordan and Camren Anderson of Nevada; a daughter-in-law, Linda Hoosac of New Eagle; a sister, Zilna Livengood of Butler; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, Peter Hoosac Sr., who died July 16, 1993; a son, Leon Hoosac; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Hoosac; a son-in-law, Clarence Manning; a grandson-in-law, Nick Uher; and three brothers, Hiram and Billy Gregg and Bert Frere. Friends will be received at the MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Everyone is asked to go directly to The Church of the Nazarene, 10th and Chess streets, Monongahela, for services Friday, Aug. 17, beginning at 11am with the Rev. Raymond DiCamillo officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
