Marguretta Nusida Obituary

Marguretta (Gibson) Nusida, 86, of Bedford, formerly of Finleyville (Ginger Hill), died Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, in Donahoe Manor Nursing Home, Bedford. She was born March 23, 1922, in Greensboro, a daughter of Clyde and Ida Mosako Gibson. Mrs. Nusida, also known as Marguretta, Gibby, Margie, Bubby and Mom, was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ in Monongahela. She served with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II in Victorville, Calif., obtaining the rank of corporal and was a recipient of the American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mrs. Nusida was formerly employed as a surgical technician at The Washington Hospital and a nurse's aide at Varner's Nursing Home in Finleyville. Ginger Hill was her home for over 35 years. In their later years, she and her husband John moved to Bedford. She is survived by her children: John Nusida and wife Bernadette, of Pittsburgh, and Jill Kovacic and husband George, of Rutherfordton, N.C.; 'Bubby' of Nichole Torres and husband Nestor, Michael Nusida and Brian Nusida and wife Nicole; and great-grand-Bubby of Alexis and Sara Nusida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Nusida, whom she married March 8, 1946; grandson, Ammon Kovacic; and brother, Ted Gibson. Friends will be received today, Monday, Oct. 20, in the FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 West Main St., Monongahela (724-258-6136) from noon to 2 p.m., at which time services will be held with George Kovacic and Richard Scaglione, ministers of The Church of Jesus Christ, officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. The Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad will conduct services in the funeral home this afternoon at 1:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: The Church of Jesus Christ, Sixth and Lincoln streets, Monongahela, Pa. 15063.
