He was born May 9, 1924, in Butler. A World War II veteran, he served with the Army Corp of Engineers, and earned the rank of T-4 while with the 613th Engineers Company. Prior to retiring, he was a master welder for 36 years at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp., Brackenridge plant. Mr. Carbin was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Moose, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, all in Butler, and the Amercian Association of Retired Persons. Survivors include a son, John F. Carbin of Greensburg; five daughters, Theresa S. Noullet of Butler, Mrs. Linda J. (Eugene) Praniewicz of Cleveland, Ohio, Georgeann F. Carbin, and Susan M. Wylie, both of Pittsburgh, and Barbara L. Carbin of Ellicott City, Md.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard Carbin and Victor Carbin, both of Butler; and six sisters, Catherine Bergbickler, Marie Maloney, Bertha Green and Mrs. Helen (Charles) Kriley, all of Butler, Mrs. Mae (Edward) Fleming of West Sunbury and Mrs. Clara (Larry) Razete of Fort Myers, Fla. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna H. Meyer Carbin in 1988; his parents, Fred and Catherine Hornberger Carbin; five brothers; and two sisters, including Margaret C. Carbin, who died March 24, 2003. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 .m. Sunday at the GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 East Cunningham St., Butler. Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday from St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, with his pastor, the Rev. Harry Bielewicz officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Butler. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Butler VFW, Post 249 in Butler.
