Jack Niedermeyer Obituary

Jack Lawrence Niedermeyer, 58, of Barking, Plum, died Wednesday (June 23, 2004) at the home of his daughter in Plymouth, Mich.

Born Oct. 7, 1945, in Detroit, he had lived in the Valley since 1972, including New Kensington and Lower Burrell. He was a 1963 graduate of Plymouth High School in Michigan. A Vietnam War veteran, he was a sergeant with the Marine Corps. Before retiring in March, he was a roller and ladleman at Allegheny Ludlum Steel, Brackenridge Works, where he worked 27 years. Mr. Niedermeyer was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Arnold, and a life member of the Lower Burrell Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed boating, water sports and traveling. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Jamie Chickerella Niedermeyer; two sons, Jon (Shirley) Niedermeyer of Plymouth and Justin Niedermeyer of Vandergrift; four daughters, Mrs. Candace Rae (Bob) Roberts of Plymouth, Mrs. Leanne (Mark) McDade of New Kensington, Mrs. Heather (Paul) Sawhook of Natrona Heights, Harrison, and Mrs. Heidi (Todd) Spencer of Sarver, Buffalo Township; his mother, Jeanne Rae Budbill Niedermeyer; and a brother, James (Patkida) Niedermeyer, both of Jacksonville, N.C. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Crystal, Jacob, Sherri, Jesse, Stefanie, Nathan, Matthew, Sarah and Robert; and a great-granddaughter, Kailee Nicole. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Emil Niedermeyer. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder Street, where private services will be on Saturday. Military honors will be accorded by the Vandergrift Honor Guard. The VFW will conduct memorial services at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home, followed by the U.S. Marine Corps League at 6:45 p.m.
