Lauren Vogel Obituary
Lauren "Larry" Vogel, of Tidioute, Pa., passed in peace on Tuesday, June 27, 2018, at his home. Larry was born Oct. 11, 1944, in Pittsburgh, to Otis and Constance Vogel, of West Leechburg. He was a 1962 graduate of Leechburg High School and attended West Penn Technical Institute (WPTI). Upon graduation from WPTI, Larry entered a career as a piping engineer and CAD operator for various engineering firms throughout the United States. Larry was an accomplished five-string banjo player who traveled annually to Mississippi to perform bluegrass and sacred music with the Lloyd family on local radio. Larry truly enjoyed cooking, baking bread and teaching his family to make beignets, low country boil and gumbo. He also enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid gun collector. Larry is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Helmut and Katherine Vogel, of Hudson, Ohio, and Joshua and Kimberly Vogel, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren, John, Jack, Paul, Luke, and Nancy; and a brother, Dennis Vogel, of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his elder brother, Colvin Vogel, of West Leechburg.
Larry loved the West and requested that his ashes be scattered in the Bitterroot Range in Montana.
