Romayne Dombroski Obituary
Romayne Dombroski, 91, of Lower Burrell, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019. She was born to Hattie (Simpson) and Robert Keaton and graduated from Plum High School. She was sister to the late Ralph, Gladys Lott, Helen Myers, Owen, Roy, Clifford, James and Dorothy Hillgartner Arndt. She was a loving and devoted wife and travel companion to Stanley, her husband of 49 years, who preceded her in death. Together they raised four daughters and created wonderful memories of family holidays, traveling, camping, growing strawberries, and instilled a love of their Roman Catholic faith. Romayne was a passionate reader who proudly passed her love of reading on to her family. As PTA president at Wills Elementary School, she created the school's first volunteer library and then became the school's first librarian. She worked at Bon Air School library until her retirement from Burrell School District. Her students enjoyed her humor, kindness and passion for books. Her daughters fondly remember her excellent navigation skills as she pored over maps and camping guides for family travel trips each summer to parks across the United States and Canada. Her love for the outdoors and exploring new places is also shared by her family. She enjoyed walking in her neighborhood and whenever visiting family. Romayne continued walking throughout her life. Romayne loved decorating her home for each holiday. She took great care to prepare special holiday dinners and welcomed all to her home and her table. She was a devoted mother and leaves as her legacy four daughters, Nancy Gallagher (Pat), Carol Young (Jeff), Barb Hegeman (Gary) and Lisa Mazza (Tom). She had a special love for each of her 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Grandma Romayne loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events, activities, concerts, plays and graduations. She leaves several nieces and nephews with whom she shared many good times. The family would like to thank Sister Carol Kardell for her years of friendship and the caregivers from Logan Place and Three Rivers Hospice. Romayne lived a life of love, kindness and faith. May her spirit live forever.
