Virginia M. (Fasano) Zanewicz Scoccimerra, 96, of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Vandergrift, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021. Born May 12, 1925, in Vandergrift, she was a daughter of the late Dominick & Josephine (Volpe) Fasano. Virginia worked for Schenley Distillery for 10 years, for Chuck Gides Tours in Natrona Heights for 10 years and as a school bus driver for the Lower Burrell School District. She was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church and its Rosary Society, as well as the Marconi Club Ladies Auxiliary. Virginia enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting and especially cooking. She liked cooking from scratch and was always on the lookout for new recipes. Virginia most loved spending time with her family, and caring for them endlessly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Louis J. Zanewicz, who passed away in 1990; second husband, Anthony W. Scoccimerra Sr., who passed away in 2014; son-in-law, Alain A. Coidan, who passed away in 2019; brothers, Joseph, Angelo and Salvatore Fasano; and an infant sister, Florence Fasano. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Diana Coidan, of Raleigh, N.C.; son, Dennis Frank (Kathy) Zanewicz, of Oklahoma Borough; grandchildren, Eric (Angie) Coidan, of Raleigh, N.C., Tiffany (Shepherd) Kennedy, of Raleigh, N.C., Marc (Sherri) Coidan, of Washington, N.C., and Amanda Minik, Shannon Zanewicz and Dennis Zanewicz Jr., all of Apollo; stepchildren, Angie (Robert) Smith, of Ford City, Annette (Thomas) Minarcin, of Binghamton, N.Y., Anthony "Tony" (Brenda) Scoccimerra, of Manor Township; as well as stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021, in the BRADY-CURRAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 429 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift. Parting prayers of transfer will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 12, in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, Vandergrift, with Father James Loew O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Vandergrift.
