July 28, 1924 - December 16, 2020
Tacoma, Washington - Cathy passed away peacefully at her home in Tacoma, Washington on December 16, 2020. She was born to Andrew and Anna Johnson in Buffalo, North Dakota on July 28, 1924. She grew up in Fargo and graduated from high school in 1942. During World War II she moved to Tacoma to join her brother Robert Johnson and her sister Dorothy Johnson. During the war she supported the war effort by working for Boeing as a riveter. She enjoyed sewing and was an avid quilter for Christ The King Lutheran Church. She joined other quilters weekly and donated their quilts to charities. In her later years she was a die-hard Mariners fan, win or lose. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Maurice Turnbull and her infant son, Steven. She leaves behind sisters Carol Gray and Phyllis Mathienson, children Roger, Nancy (Russell) McCullough, Scott and Laurie (Glenn) Tingkang, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Southeast Tacoma Nourish Food Bank.
