Fircrest, Washington - Dorothy Ruth (Simmons) Bales, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, died at her home in Fircrest on Sunday, December 27, 2020, in the early morning hours of her 96th birthday. She was born in Seattle on December 27, 1924, to Donald and Esther Simmons. Dorothy was a member of the Kunigk Orthopedic Guild and she built a career working for 37 years at the Tacoma law firm of Gordon, Thomas, Honeywell. She was an active and long time member of St. Luke's Memorial Episcopal Church where she proudly served as the Altar Guild Directress for many years. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother Donald, her husband of 50 years, Enos, and her daughter-in-law Sharyn. She is survived by her children, Joseph and Joanne Bales, Margaret and Peter Hoyer, Susan and Timothy Giesa, and Nannette and Steven Werner; her grandchildren, Nathan and Meghan Hoyer, Cory Bales, Randall and Carmen Bales, Aimee Giesa, Ashley Giesa and Taylor Parrish, Alexandra and Paul Marquard, and Steven and Trish Werner; and by her 10 great grandchildren, Madison, Alyson, Mac, Nash, Austin, Lily, Ari, Isaac, Rylan, and Lando, all of whom she loved and held dear. Her family rejoices and celebrates the fullness of her life and our lives because of her. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Luke's Memorial Episcopal Church, or to a favorite charity.
