Karen (Sabol) Young Karen Ann Young went to be with the Lord on July 19, 2013 in Winfield, KS. Karen was born on August 12, 1945 in Tacoma, WA and adopted by George and Mary Kaperick Sabol in 1948. She received her early education in Tacoma and Renton, WA and worked as a Draftsperson for the Boeing Company on the KS-135 program. She was united in marriage with Paul A. Young on June 11, 1966 in Wellington, KS. The couple made their home in Oxford, KS. Karen worked for a Variety Store as a clerk and was editor of the Oxford Register from 1970 to 1975. She worked for Oxford Alfalfa as a secretary from 1975 to 1990 and the city of Winfield in the planning department as a draftsperson. She retired in 1990 to be a full time grandmother and travel with her husband. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed movie going and scrapbooking. Over the years she was a member of the St. Mary Altar Society, Oxford Legion Auxiliary, Modern Mothers, Mothers Club and Soldanella. Survivors include her husband Paul of the home, daughter Justina (Dan) Metz, granddaughters, Lynsey and Kelsey, and brothers-in-law, John R. Young of Van Cleve, MS, David (Carolyn) Young of Mulvane, KS, several nieces and nephews and many cousins in Washington State. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in Winfield, KS. A memorial has been established with Safe Homes. Contributions can be left with the Oxford Funeral Home.
