Laila Helene Kalhagen
June 6, 1942 - February 28, 2021
Mobile, Alabama - Laila Helene Kalhagen a long-time resident of Gig Harbor, Washington passed away on February 28th, 2021 in Mobile, Alabama after a short but fierce fight with COVID 19. Laila was living in Mobile at the time of her passing where she recently moved to be closer to her family and spend more time with her new great-granddaughter, Corinne.
Laila and her husband, Eilif-Gunnar Kalhagen, were originally from Bergen, Norway. Eilif worked in the maritime industry and the couple, along with their two sons, was fortunate to travel and live all over the world. They eventually retired to Gig Harbor, a place that was dear to Laila's heart, and a place that reminded her much of home. While living in Gig Harbor Laila was very active in the community, clubs and church. She made many lifelong friends while there. She enjoyed going on long walks, volunteering, bible study, reading, entertaining and attending her grandson's soccer games.
Laila is survived by her son Geir-Eilif (Patricia) Kalhagen, grandsons Geirsen and Liam Kalhagen and Ben (Ashley) Kalhagen, granddaughter Miller Kalhagen and great granddaughter Corinne Kalhagen.
Laila's final wish was to be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Captain Eilif-Gunnar Kalhagen in Nygard cemetery in Laksevag, Bergen, Norway.
Laila will be deeply missed.
