Marion (Iversen) Butler
April 5, 1937 - March 11, 2021
CLE ELUM, Washington - Marion Louise (Iversen) Butler, 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Cle Elum on March 11, 2021 with her loving family at her side. She was born on April 5th, 1937 in Tacoma, Washington to Alfred and Henrietta Iversen.
The Iversen family moved to Cromwell in Gig Harbor in 1947, where Marion was active in 4H, winning blue ribbons for her sewing and baking skills. Marion graduated from Peninsula High School in 1955. She was an accomplished majorette in the marching band, participating in the Tacoma Daffodil Parade, and was voted Queen of the Pierce County Fair.
Marion married her high school sweetheart Albert Sherman Miller in 1957 and had 3 children.
Peggy Hemley (J.R.) Ronald, Washington
Mark Miller, Sante Fe, New Mexico and was preceded in death by her son Michael Jon.
She resided in Gig Harbor until moving to Cle Elum in 2017 to be near her daughter and to enjoy the snow.
She was active in many outdoor activities with her family, including camping, fishing and horseback riding in the mountains of Washington State.
Her travels took her to New England, Alaska, Canada, Hawaii and the Marshall Islands. From canoeing in Yellowstone to hunting moose in Alberta and Caribou in Alaska, diving in the tropics, salmon fishing in British Columbia and snowmobiling her life was full of adventure and wonder.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, her flower baskets and baking and cooking for her family. The joy of her life were her children, grandchildren (9) and great-grandchildren (14) and her many nieces and nephews who brought her such happiness.
Marion has been escorted home by angels and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
A private celebration of life will be held later in the year.
Any reembrace can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
