Myrtle E. Kessell McEvoy Stewart Born April 12, 1930, in Milwaukie, OR, passed away March 5, 2016 in Longview, WA. She is survived by her children, Dwayne "Mac" McEvoy (Connie) of Warren, OR, Allen McEvoy (Sally) of Wenatchee, WA, Robert McEvoy (Patti) of Surprise, AZ and Brenda Willis (Paul) of Kelso, WA; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Roberta Riggan of Longview, WA and Sandi Zeigelmeyer of Kelso, WA; a brother, Joe Kessell (Sharon) of Edgewood, WA; and a nephew, Ryan Zeigelmeyer of Kelso, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben H. and Mamie A. Kessell; two brothers, Carl and Bill Kessell; and both of her husbands, Dwayne McEvoy and Norman Stewart. Myrt grew up in Rainier, OR graduating from Rainier Union High School. She married Dwayne McEvoy in 1949. They resided in Tacoma from 1960 to 1985, when she retired from Brown & Haley. During their marriage, Myrt and Dwayne spent a lot of time in Ocean Shores with their children and grandchildren, clam digging, beach combing, boating, fishing and camping. Four years after Dwayne's passing, Myrt married Norm Stewart of McAllister, MT. She and Norm spent many years traveling, snowbirding, gardening and canning. Myrt enjoyed her family first and foremost, oil painting, gardening (both vegetables and flowers), baking and reading. She had many friends, old and new, whom she enjoyed spending time with and chatting with on the phone. Her family is grateful to the staff at Canterbury Inn Assisted Living, Longview, WA for the wonderful care and comfort they provided her. Also, a big thanks to the staff at Community Home Health & Hospice of Longview. The family request, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Community Home Health & Hospice. Family and friends will celebrate Myrtle's life in Ocean Shores April 12.
