I wish to extend my condolences to the family of Vice President Walter Mondale. I have always admired his service to our country. This includes his service in the armed forces of the United States during the Korean War. I am a naturalized citizen of the U.S. from the Republic of Korea. I am always most grateful to those veterans who served to defend my home country.

Vice President Mondale served our country in so many ways including MN state Attorney General, Senator from Minnesota and Ambassador to Japan. He performed these duties with utmost professionalism and set an example for others in politics to follow.

I was fortunate to meet him and members of his family on a number of occasions. He was always so kind and cordial. He treated me with the utmost respect. I have photos of some of those meetings which I cherish.

Walter's brothers Clifford and Lester were my Dad's cousins (Lewis Allin). His Dad Theodore married my Grandmother Frances' sister Jessie Larson. My family visited Sen. Mondale in DC in 1966, when I was 10. I thought ALL Senators were upstanding, well-intentioned persons of conscience, like him! What a high bar he set. Unlike many politicians, he never dis-illusuioned me. Thank you, Fritz, for everything!

“As Minnesota goes there goes America.” JFK won the Presidency with this Minnesota campaign speech. JFK was told there was no way he could win in Orville Freeman’s, Hubert Humprehy’s, and Walter Mondale’s State.

To this day I remember an elementary school field trip to the Minnesota State Capitol where our tour guide introduced us to Attorney General Walter Mondale.

My memory of that day is not what "Fritz" had to say but rather that he ascended a makeshift platform- a sturdy, cardboard box, if I recall- where he could be seen above the crowd as he delivered his brief welcoming remarks to a likely mostly disinterested audience of children only a few years older than his own.

Mondale and Eugene McCarthy were my U.S. senators during my teen years. I was pleased to finally be old enough to cast my vote for Mondale when he was up for re-election to the senate and later when he joined the Carter presidential candidate.

I voted for Mondale when he ran for president and am only sorry my vote wasn't enough to elect him.

Walter Mondale was a statesman at a time when the number of true public servants was increasingly diminishing.

To this day I am fond of quoting him any time I want to "tell it like it is": "They won't tell you. I just did."

Walter Mondale's loss to our country is immeasurable and I hope those with whom he served will keep his memory alive.

We certainly honor the great life of Ambassador, Senator & Vice-President Walter Mondale (Pres. Carter made an ideal choice) - a truly good and decent man .... had the pleasure of being a small part of the National Democratic Committee during the 1983 - 84 period ( from Rhode Island) and did urge the DNA to support, now the late, beloved Congresswoman Gerry Ferraro from New Yea - yes, President Reagan became an endearing figure also at that time - as we offer such humble condolences and sympathy to family and friends and ask Our Risen & True LORD to Bless Walter's Life & Legacy eternally - Amen - Alleluia!

Walter grew up in the same small town as my mother which was Heron Lake. Being the preacher’s son he was hell bent on proving he could still be “one of the boys”. Housewives used to leave pies on the porch to let them cool. Walter used to steal them!
My mother, Gertrude Ulrich (Willems) continued to be in contact and they worked together on civil issues. Maybe they are strategizing together once again!
