Fred A. Hickman Jr., 74, of Terre Haute, died Monday, March 22, 2010, in his residence. He was a retired construction superintendent. He was born July 23, 1935, in Terre Haute, to Fred A. Hickman Sr. and Mildred Terrell Hickman. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Connie Hickman; and a brother, Jack Hickman
Survivors include a daughter, Julie Hickman of Terre Haute; a brother, Robert Hickman of Terre Haute; and additional family, Cindy Bastian and Joe and Christy Bastian; and several nieces and nephews.
Fred was a member of the Wabash Valley Woodcarvers and the Early Morning Breakfast Club. Hobbies include fishing, painting, gardening and carving several totem poles in the area with one standing in Dobbs Park. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. today, in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St., with the Rev. Jack Diel officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery.

Fred and I grew up within 1 block of each other. As I remember he and his family lived on Jefferson ST and I lived on Krumbhaar St.. When I was a Boy Scout, he was a cub scout in my den. I haven't seen him in over 60+ years...My condolences to his entire family.
