Robert William Newhart

Robert William Newhart, 86, of Bountiful, Utah, and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2007, in Bountiful. He was born May 8, 1921, in Terre Haute, to Carl and Edna Newhart. He married Leona Davison on Feb. 10, 1945. Survivors include his wife; sons, Joseph and his wife Marcia, and Richard and Krista; grandchildren, Eric, Stephanie, Sara, Elizabeth, Kimberly, Richard and Bethany; and a great-grandson, Zachary. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Courtnaey Newhart. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in Hawaii during World War II. He and his wife Leona are members of the congregation of Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church in Spanish Fort, Ala. He also was a lifetime member of William Penn Lodge 727 Free and Accepted Masons, and was a member of the Scottish Rite. Retired from Chevron since 1983, he lived most of his retirement in the Mobile, Ala., area with his many friends, where he was an avid golfer at Lake Forest Country Club. In 2005 they relocated to Bountiful to be near family. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Roselawn Memorial Park’s Chapel of Memories. Inurnment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Roselawn Funeral Home assisted with arrangements. Donations may be made to Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church, Spanish Fort, AL, and the Kidney Foundation of Utah.
