Ruth Ellison Obituary

Ruth Ellison, 80, Columbus, died at 11:59 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2007, at her residence. Mrs. Ellison was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and had been a foster grandparent for 16 years. Born in Bowling Green, Ky., on May 1, 1927, she was a daughter of Milliken and Mary Hudson Miller, both of whom preceded her in death. On Oct. 9, 1948, she married Earl K. Ellison, who preceded her in death. Survivors include her children, Larry (Iris) Ellison, Glenda Ellison and Steven Ellison, all of Seymour, and Michael (Rita) Ellison, Edinburgh; brother, David (Phyllis) Miller, Franklin; sister, Willadean Kraning, Indianapolis; grandchildren, Clayton, Paul, Benjamin, Kenneth, Ryan, Sean and Michelle Ellison and Stacy Wart; four great-grandchildren and a nephew, Doug Rowland, Florida. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Miller; an infant brother; sisters, Katheryn Bray, Nannie Ormrod and Dorothy Siefert; infant twin sisters and a granddaughter, Leslie Ellison. Pastors John McKay and Laurie Davis will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will take place at Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home, Washington St., Columbus, and from 1 p.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be given to Hospice of South Central Indiana. www.barkesweaverglick.com
