Ada M. Secchia of Wappingers Falls entered into rest on Monday, July 25, 2005 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 78.
Daughter of the late Francis M. and Etta Morrison Sherow, she was born on June 26, 1927 in Wappingers Falls. She wed Nicholas Secchia on August 18, 1946 at Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. He precedes her in death, passing in 1982.
Ada worked for Urey's Hardware Store in Wappingers Falls for many years. She most recently was employed as a salesperson at Trim-A-Kake in Hughsonville. She was also a long time member of the Zion Episcopal Church in Wappingers Falls.
"She was a loving and giving mother and grandmother who will be truly missed."
Survivors include her daughters, Karen Mazza and her husband, Dominic, of Fishkill and Pamela Hacker and her husband, Christopher, of North Carolina; her brother, Francis M. Sherow, Jr., of Wappingers Falls; grandchildren, Fred Becker, III, Kimberly Downey, Brian Becker, Michael Gallagher, Kristen Bochemuhl, Amy VanZandt, Jonathan Mazza and Amanda Hacker; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Justin, Caitlynne, Brian, Jr., Zachary and Raegan; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Nicholas, Ada is predeceased by her brother, Thomas Sherow.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 27 at 11 a.m. at the Zion Episcopal Church, 12 Satterlee Place in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ada's name to Hospice of Dutchess County, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
