NORWAY - Adelaide Marie Bottesi, 97, of Norway, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers. Adelaide was born Feb. 27, 1912, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late George and Amanda (Thibeault) DesMarais. She attended Iron Mountain High School and was a lifelong resident of the area. Adelaide married Amos Bottesi on June 30, 1932, in Iron Mountain . He preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 1974. She was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she was involved in the altar society. She was also a member of the Anderson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Daughters of Isabella. In 1993, at the age of 80, Adelaide completed her high school education and received her diploma. Adelaide enjoyed spending time at the Norway Senior Center, summers at Rivers Bend campground, cooking, doing crafts for the hospital auxiliary and spending much time with family and friends. She is survived by one son, William Bottesi of Kingsford; five daughters, Bernadette (John) Martin of Alpena, Mich., Darlene Bottesi of Menominee, Marlene (Frank) Briguglio of Clinton Township., Mich., Donna (John) St. Juliana of Hermansville and June (Bill Beckstrom) of Norway; 22 grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Cherish Nelson, 31 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Adelaide was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Bottesi and Vernon Bottesi; two brothers, George and Arthur DesMarais and two sisters, Rita Lusardi and Lorraine Conard. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Fr. Jim Roetzer will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Norway Township Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, William Bottesi Jr., Joe Bottesi, Richard Bottesi, Bryan Bottesi, Eric Maynard and William Nelson. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
