MIDDLETON – Mrs. Cynthia "Cindy" A. (Mendalka) Rubchinuk 57, of Middleton, beloved wife of Mark F. Rubchinuk Sr., after her courageous battle, and immense strength, passed, Friday, March 29, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Danvers, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Patricia Anna (Mallett) Mendalka. She was raised and educated in Middleton and was a graduate of Masconomet Regional High School, Class of 1980. Mrs. Rubchinuk had been employed for many years as a Care Giver with the State of Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services. After leaving her Care Giver position with the State, Cindy invested all of her time and love into raising her four children. This of all her accomplishments brought her the most gratification. More recently, Cindy supported her husband, as he took over a family company that was built and established by Cindy's father, known as Middleton Oil Company, until the time of Marks retirement. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Cindy was devoted first and foremost to her family. She supported them in all of their endeavors and loved each one of them unconditionally. She was faithfully committed every day to be the best Mother and Grandmother possible. Her children and grandchildren were her ultimate pride and joy. A lifelong resident of the Town of Middleton, Cindy had a passion for animals and the outdoors, rehabilitating everything from stray bunnies to flying squirrels. She could crochet almost anything and made many afghans for family and friends. Cindy made it a point to thank the devoted nurses on the third floor of the Beverly hospital by creating beautiful afghans for many of them as well. It was her way of giving back for the limitless love and care they gave her. She loved to fish, cook, read, travel, visit the Salem Willows and especially enjoyed riding the motorcycle with her co-pilot, her beloved husband and best friend Mark. Mark and Cindy were soul mates, spending over 40 years side by side through everything. Together they visited many national parks though out the United States. The love they have for each other could never be matched. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her courage, her sense of humor, and her requests for extra everything. She will be deeply missed. Cindy is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Mark Rubchinuk Sr. of Middleton, her children, Beth Dougherty of Hampton, N.H., Fred Dougherty of Philips, ME, Mark Rubchinuk Jr and his fiancé, Serena Anderson of Salem and Robert Rubchinuk and his wife Caitlin of Boxford, her 12 grandchildren and one more on the way, her sisters, Karen Bouchard and her husband Ronald of Farmington, ME and Kathy Davis and her husband David Smith of Ipswich and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John Mendalka Jr. ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Thursday, April 4th at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton. Visiting hours Wednesday, April 3rd from 4 to 8 P.M.
