Congressman Dan Rostenkowski, age 82, Korean War Veteran, passed away Wednesday, August 11 at his summer home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Dan was the cherished husband of LaVerne nee Pirkins; loving father of Dawn Rosten, Kristie Rosten, Gayle Rosten and the late Stacy (Robert W. McDarrah) Rosten-McDarrah; devoted grandfather of Robert Daniel and dear Brother of the late Marcia and Gladys Rostenkowski. Lying in state Monday, August 16, from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 1300 N. Noble Street, Chicago. Mass of the Resurrection to be celebrated Tuesday August 17, 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Interment to follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Association of Kidney Patients, 3505 E. Frontage Rd., Suite 315, Tampa, FL 33607 or to Loyola University Chicago, 820 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611. The University houses Congressman Rostenkowski's government archives. Arrangements entrusted to Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home. Mr. Rostenkowski was a great and humble man who helped St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, unselfishly served the people in his community and devoted his life to family and friends. May Mr. Rostenkowski rest in eternal peace and may God comfort his family in their time of loss.
