Mr. David E. Martsching

David Edward Martsching, age 68, passed away October 12, 2012 at home in the comfort of his family.He grew up in Ottumwa, Iowa, served several tours of duty in the U.S. Navy during Viet Nam,worked for many years and retiring from the U.S. Postal Service as a tool and parts clerk and was co-owner of One Stop Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop in Indianola. He was a member of American Legion Post # 165 in Indianola. David was preceded in death by his parents and step-son Patrick McKee. Surviving are his wife, Barbara at home; two sons, Brad (Chyrl) Martsching of Indianola and Jeff (Lynn) Martsching of Michigan; step- son, Sean (Jenny) McKee of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Shirley) Martsching of Burlington and Dennis (Cheryl) Martsching of Ottumwa; two sisters, Sylvia Farquhar of Ottumwa and Cathy (Lloyd) Clark of Batavia. Memorial Funeral Services will be held 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Peterson's Funeral Home in Indianola. Military Honors by American Legion Post # 165 and V.F.W. # 4123 will be conducted at the funeral home at the conclusion of the funeral. Any memorial gifts will go to Taylor House Hospice.
