Deloras Recchie Obituary

Published by Porter Loring Mortuary North on Mar. 15, 2020.
Deloras Faye Recchie, age 72, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. Deloras was born on February 20, 1948 to Opal and Reuben Petree. She had one baby brother Glenn that she said she always looked up to even though he was younger. She married Bob Recchie on October 24,1970 and despite the ups and downs she said she always loved him. They were married for 49 years. After many years of trying for a child they were blessed with a daughter on March 15, 1979. It's ironic Jesus took her home on the beautiful day she gave birth to Anjeanette. Deloras was a great judge of character and introduced Anjeanette to Dale Giddings in 2003. Dale became her son in law in January 2005. She adored him and affectionally called him Sonny Boy. She had 4 wonderful grandchildren, Ryan, Sara, Isabella and Elizabeth. She adored all 4 of them and was always thinking of them. Deloras had a very exciting life. She loved fast cars, drag racing and fast planes. She did stunt flying and was the information officer for Civil Air Patrol. She ran liquor inventory for the armed forces and could tell you how to make any drink. She was the night shift manager for food and beverage for all the restaurants and bars at the Mirage hotel casino in fabulous Las Vegas! Deloras loved to cook and prided herself on her world-famous beef stroganoff. She only made one bad meal in her entire life and we still laugh about it to this day. She loved history and Agatha Christie. She loved Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison and Ricky Nelson. She collected tea pots and cook books, and traveled the world in style. Deloras rested in the shadow of the Sphinx in Egypt and studied under a master florist in Germany. She was a fabulous writer and was even published in an anthropology book. She was wildly creative and a terrific painter. Deloras was funny and witty, always the life of the party. She was the most lady-like woman in the room and the most fun. Deloras was an outstanding mother and a great wife. Wherever she was it felt like home. Here are some of the last funny things she said a few months back: "My head and shoulders hurt, guess that's where dandruff comes from." Anjeanette said "You might wake up with a girl next to you in the morning!" Deloras responsed: "I'm used to it; I have a cat that does that." "Mom you're really quick tonight!" "Well you know what they say, the bulbs always the brightest right before it goes out!" She always told Anjeanette we can fix this, just grab a cool glass of water, calm down and have a seat! She was steady under pressure and full of comforting wisdom. So that's what we're all gonna do. Grab a cool glass of water, calm down and get through this:) Like our friend Sammy would always say, "She walked into the place like she bought it and left like she sold it for a profit!" Dear Deloras, Mom, and Grammie, we all love you and we'll see you soon! Due to the Declaration on March 16, 2020 at 2:00pm, by City, County, and State officials barring gatherings larger than 50 people, all funeral services will remain private for the foreseeable future. Internment will take place in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

We are so sorry for your loss. May she always live in your memories. Continue to tell stories about her so the younger generation will know about her even if they have fewer actual memories.
