Dennis Constantine Bramos

Dennis C. Bramos, age 86, died peacefully on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. Dennis was born on June 3, 1931 in Detroit, the son of Constantine and Julia Bramos. As a teenager, Dennis worked at his father’s restaurant in Detroit as a short order cook. On July 22, 1946 he enlisted in the US Army at the age of 15. He worked as a cook in the Army and received the Army Occupation of Japan Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on December 8, 1947. When Dennis returned home, he worked at US Rubber (Uniroyal). In 1958 he started working at Kroger and retired in 1994 as the Co-Manager of the Kroger store on Harper at Old 8 Mile in St. Clair Shores. Dennis’ hobby was fishing—he loved to fish! He was devoted to his grandchildren and enjoyed all of their activities. He spent many hours watching their sports games. The family liked to go on long car rides, vacationing in Florida (where he would fish) and going to the pool. Dennis is survived by his children: Janice Hrabovsky (Mark) and Michael Bramos (Judith); daughter in law, Colleen Bramos; grandchildren: Julie, Tracy, Lauren (Clint), Jill (Nathan), Michael A. (Megan), Paul, Nicole, Eric and Dustin; nine great-grandchildren; and his loving companion, Sybille Walter. He was predeceased by his wife Willowdean in 2011, and his son Gary. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. A scripture service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening. His body will lie instate at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack at Overlake, St. Clair Shores from 9:30 a.m. Friday until mass begins at 10:00 a.m. Monsignor G. Michael Bugarin will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Roseville.
