Rockwell City – Eddie D. Junkman 82, passed away unexpectantly Thursday, May 31, 2018 at his home. Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City, with Rev. Randy Junkman officiating. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Rockwell City Veterans Organization. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home is serving the family. Ed is survived by his wife of 62 years Mavis; children, Vicki (Mike) Roby of Rockwell City, Randy (Myung Ja) Junkman of Makakilo, HI, Tim (JoDee) Junkman of Neola, and Lisa (Craig) Collins of Van Buren, AR; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister Kay (Ben) Gerdes of Milford; and brothers, Donald (Linda) Junkman of Fort Dodge, and Larry (Becky) Junkman of Rockwell City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward H. and Sena E. (Saathoff) Junkman; brother Herbert Junkman; and sister Marlys Wetzel. Eddie Dean Junkman was born July 15, 1935 near Manson, Iowa and was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rockwell City. He attended schools in Jolley and Rockwell City. Ed served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On March 2, 1956 he was united in marriage to Mavis Armstrong at San Antonio, Texas. Ed worked at the General Motors plant in Joliet, Illinois. In 1963, the couple established their home in Rockwell City, where Ed was a foreman for the Calhoun County roads for 44 years until his retirement. Ed enjoyed his daily trips around Twin Lakes. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and always had a treat for the family pets.
