Edgar W. Swanson, Jr.

Edgar W. Swanson, Jr., 88, died peacefully early Saturday morning, January 10, 2015 in Vernon Hills, IL. His daughter Suzanne Nofz, his son William Swanson and two grandchildren Stephanie and Samantha survive him. His wife of 55 years, Virginia W. Swanson, died in 2009. Edgar was born on December 4, 1926 in Chicago, IL. He served in the U.S. Army and then graduated from Brown University in 1950 with a degree in International Relations. After graduation, he joined the LA Dreyfus Company in Edison, NJ and became the Personnel Manager and Corporate Secretary there. In 1965 he relocated to Chicago to join the William Wrigley Jr. Company and became Vice President of Personnel and Assistant to the President until his retirement in 1991. Edgar also served on the Board of Directors of the Santa Catalina Island Company and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois. He retired to Savannah, GA in 1992 and moved back to Chicago in 2012.
