Mr. Finis Mark "Pud" Landers, Jr., 91, former longtime resident of Riverside Drive and retired from Union Carbide, died Monday, June 15, 2015 at St. Thomas Medical Center. A private immediate family graveside service will be held at Friendship Cemetery in Culleoka, with Military Honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The Maury County native was the son of the late Finis Mark Landers, Sr. and Kate Baxter Landers. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in three European conflicts, Anzio, Elba and Southern France during WWII. The conflict in Southern France began on June 6, 1944, when he and his shipmates landed at Omaha Beach for the Allied invasion of Normandy, known as D-Day. On February 21, 1947 he married Mary Josephine Gibson Landers who survives. He was employed by Union Carbide for thirty years and enjoyed gardening, wood working and fishing. He devoted the last several years of his life taking care of his beloved wife. Mr. Landers was a member of Pleasant Mount Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife of 68 years, he is survived by his daughter, Carol (Mike) Tapp of Franklin; son, Mark (Carlene) Landers, III of Culleoka; grandchildren, Tracy LeAnn Landers of Murfreesboro, Michael Brian (Jennifer) Tapp of Franklin; step-grandchildren, Jesse (Adrienne) Hughes, Carly Rae Mendes, Precinda Jo Mendes, Joseph M. Mendes all of Culleoka; and great grandchild, Huston Tripp Hughes. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Park and brothers, William B. Landers, Ira H. Landers and Harold Landers. Pallbearers include Brian Tapp, Joseph Mendes and Jesse Hughes.
