Frank Ticich Obituary

Published by Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home on Sep. 28, 2016.
Frank E. Ticich, 54, of Follansbee, WV died Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at his home with his loving family by his side. Born on May 26, 1962 in Findlay, OH, he was the son of the late Bernard A. and Mary Louise Vahalik Ticich. Frank was employed with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Pittsburgh for the past 16 years, where he was currently holding a position as Employment Coordinator following his initial position as a Vocation Rehabilitation Counselor for disabled veterans. He was a member of several organizations such as Carnegie Screenwriters Group; Pittsburgh Documentary Salon; and Gym of Future Champs, for which he had served on their Board of Directors. Frank was an active supporter of organizations such as Amnesty International, The Southern Poverty Law Center, and the Innocence Project. He volunteered a portion of his time providing career counseling and was listed for many consecutive years as a resource contact in the annual publication, "What Color Is Your Parachute?" In a word: Frank was a caring, involved, and passionate man who never hesitated to help others in need. During his personal time, Frank was an avid and constant reader of books written on a wide variety of topics and interests in his constant quest to satisfy his thirst for knowledge and understanding. He often expressed himself privately through his personal writings, which he humbly hesitated to share with others. He held a very deep interest and passion for works of music, art and film. Frank was a fan of all the Pittsburgh professional sports teams and he also participated in recreational sports much of his life. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Mancuso Ticich; daughters Rachel (Jeffrey) Findling of Morgantown and Erin Carey of Follansbee; brother Joseph B. (Wendy) Ticich of Wheeling; granddaughters Remy and Joss; grandson J.J. Frank; and nieces Nicole Johnston and Casey Ticich. Friends will be received on Friday, September 30, 4-8 pm at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV with a vigil service scheduled at 7 pm. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 1, at 10 am at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Father Larry Dorsch will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Southern Poverty Law Center or Amnesty International.

My deepest sympathy go out to Franks family and friends. I just today heard of his passing. I was currently working with Frank through VBA and he was a very kind and gentle person. He helped me through school and employment. I now work for the Department of Veterans Affairs thanks to all of his support and assistance. He was always willing to help and was compassionate and caring. May he be at peace and may his family be blessed and know that he will be missed.
