SALEM- Mr. Frederic W. Hutchinson Jr. of Salem, affectionately known as "Hutchie", entered into eternal peace after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday May 28, 2015 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born on December 3, 1932 to the late Frederic and Eloise (Ford) Hutchinson in Boston. He was married to the late Shirley Ann (Blais) Hutchinson, with whom he raised ten children. Hutchie was raised in Winthrop, attended the Winthrop Public School system and graduated from Winthrop High School, class of 1950. He is a lifetime member of the Pleasant Park Yacht Club, as well as the Yankee Draft Horse Association. He was self-employed and owned several businesses through-out his life, including, A&H Auto Exchange and Templeton Auto Parts. Hutchie raised and resided with his family in Salem and Templeton, Massachusetts. Through-out his life Mr. Hutchinson always had a big heart for those in need. Even with ten children in the house, he always found room for those who needed a helping hand; he was a man who put others needs before his own. He also devoted a big piece of his heart to his animals, giving a loving home to several hundred over the years. Hutchie enjoyed sailing, bowling, roller skating, country and classical music, watching old western movies, and spending time with his family and friends. He worked hard through all of the years of his life, and never gave up on his aspirations. He will be lovingly remembered for his insatiable personality, his quirky idiosyncrasies, his talent at operating machinery, and his many words of advice shared over the years. Hutchie is survived by 9 children; Deborah Peters, James 'Butch' Peters III and his wife Kathy, Irene Olsen and her husband David, LeeAnn and her husband Charles Ferris, Renee Hutchinson Brian Hutchinson, Michael and his wife Martha Hutchinson, Priscilla Westaway, and John Hutchinson, Billy Colbert, who was a like a son to him, two very special grandchildren, Michael and Ashley Ferris, many grandchildren great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, his brother Charles Hutchinson of Daytona Beach,Fla., his sister Phyllis Wolfe of Peabody and many friends. In addition to his parents and wife Shirley, he is also predeceased by his son Carl Hutchinson, his sisters Martha Rouse and Anne Dalrymple. Hutchies' family would also like to express sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Care Dimensions for all of their support, care and compassion during these last several months. ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in The O'Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem, Saturday, June 6th at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial is private. Visiting hours Friday, June 5th from 4 to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Hutchie's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tn, 38105.
