May the blessings given to Dr. ROBINSON fall upon his family and friends. He was one of the greatest doctors I've had/known especially at a horrible time in my life. I just found out about his passing. The world became a little more dark and lonely when he died.

We were so sad to hear of Dr Fred's passing. He was more than a physician to us, he was like a part of our family. Too many stories to share here, but he will be greatly missed. He is simply irreplaceable.

I was very sad to hear of Fred's passing. He was my physician for several years when I lived in Newport News. I worked with him when he was an intern doing his rotation in the cardiac unit at Riverside Regional Medical Center in the mid 1970's. He was a kind and gentle man and always had a kind word for me. Even though I have not seen him since 1996 when I left Newport News, his passing has deeply saddened me. May he rest in peace in the ever loving arms of God.

When Fred was a resident at Riverside, I was a student in the nursing program. It happened that both of us were in our respective ER rotations at the same time. Fred would look for me in the ER and ask if I would assist him when he had a procedure to do. I would gather the supplies that he requested and then be at the bedside to assist per his direction. He would explain everything that he assessed and then tell me the rationale behind his diagnosis and treatment. I learned so much from him and appreciated his willingness to teach. He was a natural mentor. He was also an excellent role model for how to communicate with patients and their families who were experiencing tremendous fear and stress. I was grateful to him for all that he taught me but I wondered why he made a point to ask me to assist. Then one day I ran into him in the cafeteria and he told me that he wanted me to assist him because I made him think of his sister. It was a very endearing reason that I had the good fortune to work with and learn so much from Fred. He was a superior educator and physician and a truly great person.

I remember hearing kudos about Dr Robinson when I became a patient at TPMG back in the 1980s. I never had the opportunity to meet him, but his good reputation preceded him.I am so sorry for your loss of such a great man who shared his life with family, friends, colleagues and patients. His legacy will live on.

Fred was the consummate Family Physician and mentor. I have valued the wisdom that he shared and the example that he set for my whole career Even the little things like taking me out to lunch when I was on his rotation and buying me the first cream soda I ever tasted. He was a class act, too soon gone, and will be greatly missed!Guy Fain, III, MD

My heart breaks for your family. Dr. Fred was one of a kind. He was my PCP at TPMG since birth up until he retired. When he told me he was retiring I was angry. I cried because no one would treat us with the compassion and care that he did. I'm now 34, living in TX and no one lives up to my expectation of a PCP because he set the bar so high. I pray you find peace and celebrate all that he has done to impact the lives of so many. He was a Godsend to my entire family and so many others. My prayers are with you all. He will never be forgotten.

Our condolences to the family of Dr. Robinson Ii. He was a true testament of a great doctor, full of compassion, knowledge and professionalism. Our family has been honored to have know him. Dr. Fred Robinson was a physician group leader of the highest ability. My law firm had the pleasure of working with Fred in the early days of Tidewater Multispecialty Physicians Group, when Fred was among the founders. He was excellent in that role and he has been a friend of our firm to this day. We have lost a fine person and a natural leader.

Not only a good Doctor but a Good Friend. Fred was there to take care of his patients needs and to listen and give his advice. He was a strong friend when John was ill and he was also there to steer me in the direction that I needed when I had to move on. A Good Man, He will be missed!

Fred Robinson was our family physician, we were some of his first patients. He helped me so many times with my four young children. What a kind and respectful Doctor he was. I cried when he retired and have wished many times I could still have him as our doctor. He was an excellent diagnostician. We will never forget his kindness and his great knowledge. May he rest in peace.

So Sad to hear this. He was a very compassionate doctor. He heard my daughter was in the emergency room when she was brought in for a car accident. He came to her, held her hand . No words can say what that meant to our family. Rest in peace Dr Fred!

Dr. Fred was our family doctor from the time our family moved to the Peninsula until his retirement. Both he and I never forgot the involved and caring transfer of my mother by air ambulance from Arkansas to Riverside so she could be under his care and near me. She lasted a year on a respirator thanks to his wonderful care. He was our doctor for us and our sons and finally my granddaughter for so many years. In retirement we saw him often at the sports club here in Kingsmill. We are so shocked at his sudden death, as he was the most active and healthy person we knew. Rest in Peace, Fred. Dr. Robinson was a great man and fantastic physician. He took care of my entire family up until his retirement. To this day I compare him to every doctor I've been to, and none come close to the level of care and personality that he had. He will truly be missed.

Dr. Fred was the best. He had time for his patients and would make time to see you after hours if needed. Always was straight forward and no beating around the bush. It's been years since he left the daily practice and has surely been missed. A lot of doctors don't have time to talk to patients and it's a real shame. Dr. Fred will be missed and all he did for me is very much appreciated. God bless him..

I met Fred when he was a resident at Riverside when I worked in the ED. I was one of his first patients when he started his practice and sadly one of his last when he left the practice to follow his dreams. I trusted him. He was my husband's doc, my mom's doc and I have missed the relationship we had since he retired from patient care. Godspeed, Fred.
