I have so many wonderful memories of Gert. If she had to be taken from the family and those who cared about her...im glad it happened before the pandemic. She would have been so unhappy not being able sell the bakery and play cards .
There are so many Villa residents that touched my heart in so many different ways. But, mom was and still has a special place in my heart.

To Dick, Randy, bob & Rita.
I don't know if you know/remember me, but I am your cousin, Bernice's daughter.
I remember your mom from the time I was a little kid, visiting Grandma and Grandpa Hartzheim's farm. I think she married your dad when I was 4 or 5, and they were frequent visitors to the farm, as my family was.
I am sorry for your loss ..... it is very strange to realize only Les is left.
I am thinking of all of you and sending you warm thoughts.

I wouldn't nap for my mom so I was introduced to Gert. She snuggled me softly as I would drift off to sleep. I played with her daughter my dear best friend. She made us playdough, lots of laughter we would make coins and dry them what fun we had. After lunch we go to Gert, and get a cookie or two. In the summer we went to the cottage. Swam and Gert taught me to fish. I loved it. But 1st we would have to get the worms. That electric rod! Lol we had fires and jump on what I called the big black blob. Picked black berries. Bugged the boys. Gert, and Rita helped me with my homework. I was so bad at. I never saw her sad. Alot of smiles. Alot of laughter. Oh she could say no! Not very often. Cant forget The car shows. After my marriage to Tim we moved to little chute and could not believe it when there was Joe and Gert sitting outside watching traffic. I introduced them to my boys. What a full circle. Thank you Raymaker family for being the best neighbors. And friends. 2nd family to me growing up.

The most cherished neighbor. Always with a smile when I knocked on the door and asked if she wanted to hear a song, have a tea party or meet on of my new dolls. I really mainly went to see her, the cookie was a bonus!

It was an honor and a privilege to take care of (and better yet to get to know her) "Mom" (as she always was to me). I will always remember her kind, loving words she spoke. I am working that day but am going to try to find someone to cover my shift. I want so desperately to be there!! If Im unable to attend please know that I truly want to be there for you guys!! Hold onto those memories and she will never be far away!! Love always, Cheryl, Villa (well, formerly of the Villa)
