Gino Danelli, age 62 of Algonac, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Oakland Center in Madison Heights. He was born on February 3, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Salvatore and the late Rachel (nee: Maietta) Lentini.
Gino was a man with an outgoing personality, an energetic spirit, and possessed an intelligence that kept his mind constantly at work. With the innovative strengths of an entrepreneuer, his mind was always engrossed with new ideas,'and he had ideas for everything. These traits were all enveloped within the heart of a 'go-getter' who dreamed big and always set high goals for himself. Gino was also endowed with a creative side that just seemed to enhance the workings of his mind.
His creativity took many forms, one of the most profound being his love for entertaining. For most of his working years, Gino sang in many various bands bringing his own style of crooning to the stage. He was bestowed with a special musical gift that he shared with the exuberance of Vic Damone. Singing brought him immense delight, but not near as much as the enjoyment he found in entertaining the adoring audience. And not only a singer, his musical gifts were also realized in his talents through writing & producing music as well. Being the sports fanatic he was, many of his writing and producing efforts were centered around the creation of Detroit sports-themed songs which were played on the radio. Another example of his sports-minded creativity was in the many shirts he designed & produced for various sports teams in the area. It was the artistry of his soul and his creative mind that kept him going, and what made him such a pleasure to be around.
Gino was also known for being quite the talker. Everybody knew,'you could plan on no less than 2 hours on the phone with him, but he always made it entertaining. And he could talk to anybody! He just loved visiting with people and bringing a smile to their face. He was also renowned for his unique sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh. He was quite the jokester and an extremely funny man. It was simply all part of the man inside who had a natural gift of bringing sunshine into the lives of others. The hearts and lives he touched along life's way are countless, and to them he leaves a bright memory of the care, compassion and comedy that he brought to them all. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally.
He was the dear father of Gina (Dave) Pouget and Jason Lentini. Loving grandfather of Jason, Derek, and one on the way. Brother of Robert (Eva) Lentini and Sally Lentini. Also survived by caregiver & ex-wife, Lynn Danelli.
