Glenn Grisco Obituary

Published by Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills on Sep. 18, 2022.
Glenn Paul Grisco, age 58 passed away Sunday September 18, 2022. Born on June 22, 1964 in Los Angeles, CA to Dennis and Rosalina Grisco. Glenn attended Rubidoux High School and graduated from Nueva Vista High School, continuing his education at Chaffey College in the Inland Empire. He is survived by his wife Mimi, son Trevor and daughter Sarah; as well as his father Dennis Grisco, mother Rosalina Grisco, siblings William Grisco, Denise Grisco & Deidre (Marc) van Eekeren, nieces Tiffany, Shayne, Isabella, Anna and Emma and a large loving extended family. Glenn was a kid at heart. He loved to laugh and found humor and joy in everyday. Glenn was an avid Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Angels fan, a music fan and loved attending live concerts. He was not a meticulous planner, he was very easy going and took life as it came. He sometimes forgot the concert tickets, to put gas in the car or where he put his wallet, sunglasses or keys. He didn't let those details bother him too much. He lived his life in the moment. When Glenn's parents were retiring, he summed up their relationship best. "My dad taught us how to work and my mom taught us how to love". With Glenn and his brother Bill (William), you might not immediately see the deep connection they had throughout their lives. The reason was that their attachment wasn't built on their similarities but rather their differences. Drawing upon earliest childhood memories Bill knew one thing was clear, they were opposite sides of the same coin. The one thing that always bound them together was their love of animals. Even then they chose different paths; Glenn choosing falconry, and Bill choosing dog training. They both became reflections of their dad but took on different skill sets. Glenn was always able to follow his own path. Glenn's youngest sister, Deidre, was 5 years younger and adored her big brother. As kids they watched cartoons together on Saturday mornings, Speed Racer and Justice League. As teens Glenn taught her about music. They had an agreement: she made his lunch and he would buy her 1 album in exchange for 6 lunches. He let her listen to her albums on his turntable but only after listening to one of his first. As adults he made her laugh more than anyone else could, his face lighting up when he saw her as did hers when she saw him. Glenn spent the most time with his sister Denise. They were 1 year apart and went through elementary school, junior high and high school together. When Denise bought her house Glenn was always willing to help with home repairs, installing sprinklers or most recently he built her shed. Glenn always enjoyed family gatherings and they laughed so much when they were all together. Glenn and Denise spent the most time together just out of high school, they went to a lot of concerts, going out on weekends; camping, Palm Springs, beach parties, costume parties, toga parties, so many parties. They always had a great time together. During that time Denise invited Glenn to come out with her and their Auntie Mitchie, and that is where he met Mimi. Mimi Giordano was dazzled by Glenn's dimples, his sense of humor and his good looks. Mimi asked Denise & Mitchie if she could date their brother/nephew. They were all for it and he easily assimilated into their group of friends. Glenn & Mimi fell in love and married November 1989. March of 1990 his son Trevor Michael was born, and Glenn fell in love again. When Trevor was a baby Glenn asked his mom, "Mom can I kiss him TOO much?" Trevor became his sidekick, always bringing him along to grandma's house on weekends, hawking, falconry meets, while working on set like the Scorpion King or on location in Montana, fishing and camping trips to Big Bear, Silver Lake and Lake Edison. His next big love started November 1996 when his daughter Sarah Elizabeth was born, his Sarabeth. She would become his comedic partner: "Me and dad would tell each other jokes all the time, like silly dad jokes and we would scare each other around the house and laugh and laugh, sometimes getting mom and Trevor by accident " Glenn was artistic, crafty, did beautiful leatherwork for his birds and knew so much trivia. He & Mimi would watch Jeopardy and he would impress her with his breadth of knowledge. Glenn loved his family, all of his family. He gave love easily, greatly and unconditionally. Glenn's services will be held at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills on October 20, 2022 12:30 pm His ashes will be spread at Lake Thomas A Edison in the Sierra National Forest. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to aid his family with unexpected expenses related to his passing GoFundMe https://gofund.me/a70c62a6

Glenn was one of my favorite cousins. One of the strongest memories of our youth was in the 1970s, riding “catamaran” on our skateboards down the steep hill at Grandpa Grisco’s new house. Glenn, Bill and I would take turns, partnering together as we sat on our skateboards, grabbing onto each-other’s arms for dear life. The other person would push, helping us gain momentum down the sidewalk. It is a miracle we didn’t get hit by a car every time we flew into the middle of the intersection at the bottom of the hill.

As we got older, Glenn continued to be my getaway partner during big family gatherings. We’d sneak off to quiet rooms or a hotel bar to catch up on life and laugh until our stomachs hurt. His honesty and playfulness made him a joy to be around. Whenever I was with Glenn, I was assured to have fun! I can still see his big smile and dimples that would reveal himself whenever he was amused. It was that infectious child-like Joy that made you want to be around him even more.

I’m heartbroken he is gone. But I gotta give it to him. Leaving us so unexpectedly was the ultimate sneak away.
