Helen DelGarbino, 82, of Warren passed away Friday July1, 2011 at her home succumbing to Progressive Supranuclear Palsy from which she had suffered for the past several years. She was born Dec.28, 1928 in New Castle, PA the daughter of Gust and Diana (Mistella) Martinis (Martin). Helen spent most of her adult life in Warren graduating from Warren G. Harding High School in 1946. Following high school, she completed a business course and began her working career at the Second National Bank of Warren. She retired after thirty eight and a half years of service as manager of the bookkeeping department. At one time she worked for 14 years without an absence. Helen enjoyed spending summers in North Port, MI, and traveling to California, Mexico, and Las Vegas. She was an avid reader and loved going to casinos. Her only son, John Leslie, died of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in 1981 and her previous husband William Drake passed away in 1999. She also was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters; infant Demetra, Bella King, Sophie Murdoch, Betty Pitinii, and 3 brothers Spiro Martin, Elefterios Martin, and Stratios Martin. Helen will be sadly missed by her beloved husband David L. DelGarbino whom she married July 21, 2004, step-sons J.T. (Michelle) DelGarbino of Liberty, David A. (Barbara) DelGarbino of Fowler, and 10 grandchildren who loved her dearly and affectionately referred to her as "Ya Ya". She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and her compassionate caregiver Kim Mocella. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Rather a memorial celebration of her life will be planned for a later date. Inurnment has taken place at Oakwood Cemetery. The family requests that any memorial tributes be made to the Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) 11350 McCormick Rd Executive Plaza III, Suite 906, Hunt Valley, MD 21031. (www.psp.org)
