Jacob SCHLIEGER

SCHLIEGER, Jacob - Age 93, of Flushing, passed peacefully, Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Peace Presbyterian Church, 1521 N. Elms Road, Flint, with Pastor David Galbraith officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 6-9 PM and Wednesday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to Peace Presbyterian Church. Mr. Schlieger was born April 20, 1917 in Flint, the son of Heinrich and Katherine (Burbeck) Schlieger. He is a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He married Margaret Gifford March 22, 1941 in Flint and she preceded him in death August 22, 1989. Mr. Schlieger retired in 1977 from Sun Oil Company after 30 years of service. He had resided in Flushing since 1995 coming from Flint. He was a member of Peace Presbyterian Church. He was an avid Detroit sports fan and enjoyed spending time at his cottage in Greenbush with his family. Surviving are; 3 children, Dennis and wife Linda Schlieger of Flushing, Donna Schlieger of Flint and Dale and wife Sherrie Schlieger of Mt. Morris; 10 grandchildren, Jamie, Matthew (Michele), Patrick, Kelly, Jacob, Christopher (Danielle), Sally, Stevie, Justin and Crystal; 12 great grandchildren, Matthew, Jr., Nicholas, Brandon, Ryan, Alison, Briana, Ava, Hailee, Ashton, Tyler, Gage and Hunter; nephew, Jimmy Schlieger; several other nieces and newphews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 2 daughters, Gloria and Victoria Schlieger, grandson, Stephen, 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
