Jennie Czelazewicz Obituary

Published by Carmon Windsor Funeral Home on Sep. 22, 2017.
Jennie O. Czelazewicz, 92, of Windsor, beloved wife of the late Vincent Frank Czelazewicz, passed away on September 22, 2017. She was born at home in Windsor on January 22, 1925, daughter of the late John and Jadwiga Olszewski. Jennie spent the majority of her life working outdoors, tending to livestock and vegetable gardens on her family farm. Her green thumb and love of plants allowed her to cultivate spectacular flower beds and lush gardens around her home as well. She enjoyed teaching her children and grandchildren about agriculture and its importance in the community. Jennie was also a businesswoman who managed her family's business. Windsor residents will recall the ARCO gas station, then AM/PM Mini-Market, later Shell Food Mart, and lastly, the "C" Store, over many years, all on Poquonock Ave by the highway. Through it all, Jennie's main focus in life was caring for her family and being the loving and supportive matriarch of five generations. In addition to her husband Vincent, Jennie was predeceased by her three children, Jane C. Verona, Frank Czelazewicz, and Richard Czelazewicz; seven brothers, two sisters, and a great-grandson, Jason Lee Verona. She is survived by six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson as well as her brother, Victor Olszewski of Kentucky and sister, Olga Jendrzejewski of West Hartford. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2017, from 10-11 a.m. at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home with a service beginning at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow the service in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
