Joann Helenberg

Joann was born on March 23, 1933 and passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017. Joann was a resident of Colorado. Mom was a wife and awesome Mome. Wife of 54 years and she and Dad did some incredible things. Not all marriages are perfect. But for the last I would say since I came home in 2003 they have been outstanding years. For the first time in history they were actually happy and content. Daddy didn't mind Mom and I going on what we called windshield therapy I drove and she would tell me which way to go. She was fabulous at navigating. Mom taught me how to drive. How to race. Just like she and daddy did back in the sixties with the sports car club. Dad actually showed me how to not hold the car with a clutch on a hill. Dad told me I'd burn up the clutch and I would have to pay for it. So I learn fast. Mom drove my Subaru about two years after I got it she had a lot of fun and laughs in that car. She said it was the easiest car to shift that she had ever driven with a stick. And hey it had air conditioning. In all honesty I lost my mom six months ago. When we were given the news without confirmation of a biopsy that she had cancer. For the first time in her life she didn't fight it and I don't know why? I wish I knew. Once she had the fall at the skilled nursing Center which we call The Addams Family Care Facility which was in late January of 2017 mom wasn't the same. Yes I gave them hell and I gave them a nasty reputation By Word of Mouth. That is something mom gave me a determination to get what was wrongfully done fixed. What mom didn't tell me was how to live without her.
