Mr. John D. Brivchik

Brivchik John D. Brivchik, 78, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday afternoon at the Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy Center following a long illness. Born in Duquesne, PA, he was the son of the late Walter and Julia Stanko Brivchik. John was the husband of Judith K. Fearer Brivchik of Lancaster, together they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 12th. John had served with the United States Air Force as an Airman Third Class. He was a graduate of Waynesburg College and was a 1957 graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He was a licensed funeral director here in Lancaster and from 1962 until 1973 he had worked for Fred F. Groff Inc., he had also worked for other homes in the Lancaster county area. Not wanting to sit still, John also worked for Kellogg's from 1985 till 1996. A long time member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Lancaster, and actively sang in the choir for 30 years and also was a member of the 55+ Club there. An avid gardener and landscaper, he was also a bit of a craftsman, making holiday wreaths and table pieces for family and friends. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Judy, his son Michael J., husband of Deanna L. Brivchik of Lancaster, his daughter Kristin K., wife of Alan M. Shaffer of Los Angeles, CA, his grandchildren, Dorissa Lea and Michael Allie Brivchik, and his sister Natalie Summers of Greensburg, PA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Olga Daily and two brothers, Bernard and Walter Brivchik, Jr. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Ave., Lancaster, PA on Monday at 12:00 PM with Fr. Alexander Goussetis, Fr. Alexander Veronis and Rev. James Garner officiating. Entombment will be held at the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum of Conestoga Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Fred F. Groff Inc., 234 W. Orange St., Lancaster, PA and on Monday at the church from 11:30 AM until the time of services. Trisagian Services will be held on Sunday evening at 7:00 PM. If desired, memorials may be sent in John's memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Dr., P.O.
