I worked with John many years ago at First Interstate Bank. Remember him as a genuine nice man who was dedicated to his family. He is a very pleasant memory from my past.

I worked for John at Rancho bank and with Julie in summer breaks. Jason and Jeramy I would see once in a while when they came into the bank. They are such a fine family and I just learned of Johns passing. So sorry for such a huge loss.

I only had only known Papa John for a couple of years but they made a big impression on me. I was immediately struck by his gentle and loving temperament with his granddaughter Jenna. My daughter is one of her teammates. The way Papa John loved on Jenna is what initially touched me. I knew he was someone I could learn from, and learn I did. We spent lots of hours on the sidelines of volleyball matches in hot, crowded, and LOUD venues. In spite of his health challenges, he NEVER complained and was ALWAYS there to cheer the girls on. He treated ALL of them as if they were his own. You can learn a lot from spending hours together in a hot, noisy gym. We both have two sons and a daughter and as I got to know Papa John, I was curious about what it had been like for him as a young father. Not many dads can say that they have two boys that made it all the way to MLB. Not many dads talk about how crazy proud he was of his strong and beautiful daughter Julie. We had some great chats in between volleyball games about the things that really mattered. His unwavering love for his family was the one that always impressed me the most. That look in his eye when he would talk about anything family was a look I will always remember. That look of unwavering love and devotion... THAT is the thing I will always remember and be thankful for...

Cindi and I became friends of John in high school. Later our two families became friends as our sons played on the same youth baseball team, only later to become high school football, basketball and baseball rivals. We spent countless hours with the Giambis in the stands or at practice watching some of our kids play, and tracking the younger ones running around.
It was educational just listening to John talk about the game he loved so much. A great guy who will be missed. I know I speak for all the Chadwicks when I express our condolences and sorrow for your loss. God bless you all.

Johnny and I met in kindergarten. He was my first and best friend. Most of my boyhood memories involve him. We learned the game of baseball together. I pitched, he caught. He begged me to convince his hesitant mom to let him play Little League. I assured her that I would look after him. Truth was, he was the one who looked after me. More than once he jumped between me and one or more of the assorted bullies in the neighborhood. He always drank RC Cola, called my mom and dad - who adored him - by their first names and shared my worship of Mickey Mantle. After we were grown, Johnny married the love of his life and we saw each other less often. One summer day he dropped by with his first born son. Jason tottered around the yard dragging his big red plastic baseball bat behind him like Linus and his blanket.

Johnny, maybe your boy will become the next Mickey Mantle.

Who knows? But Steve, honestly I just want him to be happy.

Johnny, my trust in the Lords love for us assures me that you are now with Him. I dont know how long it will be before I join you but when I do, grab your glove. Ill pitch and you can catch.

Ill see you later old friend.

I will always remember John's kindness and strength during my husband's long decline. John's skillful guidance of Rancho Bank caused our investment to turn out well, and I am always grateful for that. John was a loyal friend throughout the many years that we knew him. He was always pleasant and polite, even when we were being annoying. I will cherish my many memories of John.
