The memories I have of John are all positive. I remember John as being rather tall in stature and being a quiet person. Although I hadn't seen John since high school, I can still visualize him as I look at the photo of him in his later years.
John was always well-respected by me as well as our classmates.

I was a classmate of John and I also lived in the Bayview Heights neighborhood near him. I remember John as always having a mild, collective and friendly attitude. I cannot ever seeing John mad at anything or anyone.
As a planner for all of our class reunions, we have noted John's passing. At each of our reunions, we recognize those classmates who have passed.
Each time I read of a classmate's death, I remember that person as being a classmate and how soon time has passed from our time in high school.
Our class will continue to remember John. Your family was blessed to have had John as a part of your lives.

I was so surprised and saddened to hear of John's passing, and wanted to pass along my condolences to all of you. You may not remember me, but I worked with John at Target in Duluth for many years, and we continued to stay in touch for several years after you all moved to ND. As happens with many friends, we lost touch a few years back. I think often of the many fun times we all had at Target . . . just wanted to let you know I hadn't forgotten him. Take care, all of you! Sorry for your loss. John was always a cool fun cousin. We loved when he & Jim came & visited us in the cities. Mom always got a bigger smile when her nephews came through! Love you all! Squishees

I was John's operations manager at Minot Target and also spent quite a lot of time in the Gustofson home visiting and planning social gatherings. My wife and I still laugh at the time we got to your house and one of the little boys had spilled bleach and used most of the laundry to wipe it up. Good memories and our thoughts are with John's family.

I am so sorry to learn of your dad's death. It was sad to see him become so ill. He was such a terrific guy and will be missed by so many! I just received his Christmas card. As usual he was on the ball!
I have very fond memories of 'back in the day' when our families had such good times together! I will remember those happy times.
May God be with all of you and give you peace.
Love to all, Maureta

I remember the day I met John, it was a cold day back in January 1983. I was a curious neighbor who was eager to meet the family who bought the gorgeous and huge vacant two story home at 1202 Cimarron Blvd. John came to West Fargo with more than a family, he brought an entire tribe. Johns pride and joy was his family of 8, and rightfully so. Through the years that family of eight has grown and grown to include 8 grandchildren and too numerous to count in-laws, outlaws and friends. John was a second father to me and to many other kids who were lucky enough to spend their youth running around the Gustofson home. Like almost all of us, John was no stranger to loss or challenges however through most hardships John has displayed strength and courage even in the darkest of times. I can never repay John for his true and unfaltering guidance, I will forever treasure the time I spent with him. May family and friends of John find comfort in knowing that on his life's !
journey John both brought and received joy from all of those who were lucky enough to know him. Rest In Peace My Friend.
