John Roou Obituary

John was born on July 25, 1939 and passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019. John was a resident of Viroqua, Wisconsin at the time of passing. Jack graduated from Viroqua High School in 1957, earned his Bachelor's degree at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in 1963, and went on to earn his Master's degree from UW - L. In 1961, Jack was mobilized with the 32nd Infantry Division of the Wisconsin National Guard to Fort Lewis, Washington, during the Berlin Wall Crisis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 13, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church in Viroqua. Father Janusz Kowalski will officiate with burial at the Viroqua Cemetery. The Thorson Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Viroqua is proudly serving the family Visitation at the Thorson Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on April 12, 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Viroqua American Legion Post 138.

I was blessed to have Jack as my good friend in high school. We enjoyed so many adventures together. From boating and Rudy's on the river, to hunting in the hills around Viroqua, to just hanging out. We were buddies. Those days are long gone but remain among my most cherished memories.
