Foremost my sympathy to the entire family.
Wow, the words are hard to place into writing. The year 1967 and it was the first time saw Retta at St. John The Evangelist School in South Side with her sister Debi by her side continuously. I remember how beautiful she was and I as a very young boy could not take my eyes off of her. We started talking and I asked her to be my girlfriend. She said yes to my surprise! All that year I was about the happiest young boy in South Side. We went to the movies nearly every weekend and spent a lot of time together on Sarah Street or up at her house. Her mother was a gem of a Lady. I remember the only person in their house was Czar Her uncle's Doberman who really did not like me. I believe the last time Retta and I spent time together was the day they moved to Carrick way back then. Brain McCain and I went up to help them move into their new place. That day as I said was the last I saw Retta. One day about three years ago I was on a South Side page on Facebook and noticed a comment by Loretta V. Remembering my childhood girlfriend's name was Loretta I thought I would look at her profile and it was her. I contacted her and we laughed a had talked about our lives since back then. She said she remembered my buying her Sugar Sugar on a 45 RPM Record. I in turn told her that I was going through old pictures and still had the large 8x10 she had given me in 1967. We laugh again! It was nice to see She did well in life. Today I feel so very blessed to have known her at all in life and though she will be missed by many I feel very comforted in knowing She is now with the Lord. Surely, I wish that we could have met up somewhere and met her Family but it just was not to be. Today I say not goodbye to my friend but fair well for we will meet again, laugh and remember all over the wonderful lives we shared here on earth together. Rest in Peace beautiful Soul and may almighty God bless and keep you forever by his side.
